Frequently asked questions

We pride ourselves on our meticulous approach and unwavering commitment to author success. Our expertise spans various genres, ensuring your story receives the attention it deserves. Explore our most common questions to learn more about how we work.

Do you edit together or work on different projects?

We edit together! We believe this collaborative approach makes us stronger and provides greater value to your project.

Do you use AI in your editing or will you run my book through AI?

No. Never. We also do not work with authors who use AI in their writing.

How many rounds of editing do I get with each service?

You receive one round of editing with each service. Additional rounds can be purchased if needed.

Do you provide a contract?

Yes, we have a written contract that outlines all terms and conditions of our services.

What if I need to make large scale changes to my manuscript after my edit?

We offer a complimentary review of up to 5,000 words within 90 days of receiving your feedback. Should additional review be needed, we recommend booking an additional service.

What is your turnaround time?

This varies by project size, but generally ranges from 2-4 weeks. Our timeline will be communicated upfront in your contract.

Do you offer payment plans?

At this time, full payment is due prior to the delivery of the completed project.

Do you edit sequels if you did not edit the first book?

Yes, but we require a detailed synopsis of the previous book(s) and either an e-copy or a physical copy of the book for each of us.

Are there any content warnings that you will not edit?

We will not edit any graphic sexual scenes involving a minor.

How will I receive your feedback?

We edit in Google Docs - we provide frequent margin comments with both reactions, suggestions, and corrective guidance. Most chapters will be riddled with an abundance of margin comments but in the unlikely event that a chapter is light with comments, we will make a note at the end of the chapter to provide any feedback or suggestions to you. An editorial letter is also provided with our overall feedback separated by editor including the things we loved most, the areas that we believe require additional focus, and suggestions for marketing.

What are content pulls?

As more and more people choose to self publish their work, we are seeing fatigue when it comes to marketing. We highlight our favorite book quotes and provide suggestions for content that you can create to help you market your book. We do not guarantee a set number of post ideas and we do not create the content for you, however we hope that these ideas help you to continue to market your book on the days that your idea well runs dry!

YOU GUYS LEVELED THIS STORY UP!

Thank you so much for what you've done!

Megan Rockwell, author of Without Refuge

How does someone work with you from start to finish?

We begin with an introductory Zoom meeting to ensure mutual fit, discuss our process, availability, and timeline. We also delve into the author's project and vision. Once aligned, we set a start date and send a contract upon receiving the manuscript. We work collaboratively in Google Docs, providing authors full access upon completion of the edit. Finally, a second Zoom meeting is held to review any questions and clarify feedback. We provide the specifications for reasonable follow up in our contract to make sure that you continue to receive the support that you need as you work through your edits.

After that, we will continue to celebrate your achievements and success as you publish your book and your story finds its way into the hands of your readers!
